It does feel wonderful to have a new found family in our Savannah classmates.  I have appreciated the way we are getting to share in each other's lives again, too.  Merry Christmas to you all.

It is definitely fun here Kathlene. I transfered in as a junior so I didn't really get to know people very well. Last fall I met many of the folks here for the first time that I remember, at the reunion itself. I find that I still want to interact with them after that experience.

Everyone, please take a few minutes to send your donation to the alumni fund that lets present students do things that they might otherwise not be able to afford to do. Every kid should be able to follow their own interests. Even a small donation, say $25 each, would add up to helpng a lot of kids if we all contribute to it.

Beautiful seasonal thoughts fellow class of 65 Savanna Rebels.  Love, affection, and holiday blessings to all of you, the greatest high school class ever.  The reconnection of the last two years has enhanced the lives of all of who've gotten involved in person at the Reunion or through this wonderful website.

This news from Berlin is obvioiusly disturbing.  We have just returned from a petite voyage to Strasbourg, Nancy and Paris to visit Christmas Markets.  Strasbourg is very special, the market dating back over 450 years. In this case, I have never felt more safe, the central Ville is located on an Island, that has very limited access to motor vehicles.  In fact our Cab from the airport had to drop us off on the opposite side of the river and we walked with our luggage.  No big deal when one recognizes the efforts the city is putting into ones saftey.  In Nancy, the Markets are very small and out of the way, so again safe.  Nancy was on the stop in that this is basicaly my Mom's home town and I visited Nancy countless times when young.  It was great to walk along the same streets from where my Grandmother's place was located, thru the ancient "ports", in the parks and Plase Stanislaus.  The markets in Paris on the other hand were completely exposed.  They lined the Champs Eleysse and it would have been very easy for a car or small truck to crash into this market.  Luckily, Paris was not on the hit list this time.  We love this town, there are countless things to see and do, plus just sitting in a cafe and watching the people of Paris is a treat.  Women so fashionable, young women all looking like models, everyone walking very fast. So to all of you a very Merry Chistmas,, etc. etc.  Would most likely mess up the spelling of other holidays. But you all get the message.  I wish you all the very best.

Mitch - We were at the Christmas Market in Paris in November.  You are right about Paris being a beautiful city although very cold when we were there.  My husband is an aviation nut so we spent one day at the French Aviation Museum.  They have two Concord jets that we were abel to go through.  Off the beaten path of typical Paris sites.  We loved our trip to your adopted country.

The little known story of the shepherds at the manger.

Two shepherds lean on their crooks at the end of a long day. The first asks the second, "So, how's it going?"
The second one sighed and shook his head, "Not good. I can't pay my bills, my health isn't good, my kids don't respect me, and my wife is leaving me."
The first replied, "Well, don't lose any sheep over it."

Nancy,  we enjoyed the Paris market as well, but it was till cold for us too.  I do not know the Aviation Museum but will check it out for one of our future trips.  Have a Merry Christmas.

Steve, what a wonderful Christmas Present for the whole family.  I know you will enjoy your new home, and with so many Rebels in the area, it will be ideal for getting reaquainted.  Plus there just happens to be a few really find golf courses in the are.  Merry Christmas.

Merry Christmas fellow Rebels from Montara, 20 miles south of San Francisco on the coast.  If you see a Salvation Army Kettle during your shopping the next couple of days, drop off a donation.  I will be ringing a bell in Pacifica on Christmas Eve.

Albeit a couple of days late and really is something that Greg would usually post.  Nonetheless, I couldn't resist:

        HOLIDAY EATING TIPS

1.  Avoid carrot sticks. Anyone who puts carrots on a holiday buffet table knows nothing of the holiday spirit. In fact, if you see carrots, leave immediately. Go next door, where they're serving rum balls.

2. Drink as much eggnog as you can. And quickly. It's rare... You cannot find it any other time of year but now. So drink up! Who cares that it has 10,000 calories in every sip? It's not as if you're going to turn into an eggnog-alcoholic or something. It's a treat. Enjoy it. Have one for me. Have two. It's later than you think. It's Christmas!

3. If something comes with gravy, use it. That's the whole point of gravy. Gravy does not stand alone. Pour it on. Make a volcano out of your mashed potatoes. Fill it with gravy. Eat the volcano. Repeat.

4. As for mashed potatoes, always ask if they're made with skim milk or whole milk. If it's skim, pass. Why bother? It's like buying a sports car with an automatic transmission.

5. Do not have a snack before going to a party in an effort to control your eating. The whole point of going to a Holiday party is to eat other people's food for free. Lots of it. Hello?

6. Under no circumstances should you exercise between now and New Year's. You can do that in January when you have nothing else to do. This is the time for long naps, which you'll need after circling the buffet table while carrying a 10-pound plate of food and that vat of eggnog.

7. If you come across something really good at a buffet table, like frosted Christmas cookies in the shape and size of Santa, position yourself near them and don't budge. Have as many as you can before becoming the center of attention. They're like a beautiful pair of shoes. If you leave them behind, you're never going to see them again.

8. Same for pies. Apple, Pumpkin, Mincemeat. Have a slice of each. Or if you don't like mincemeat, have two apples and one pumpkin. Always have three. When else do you get to have more than one dessert? Labor Day?

9. Did someone mention fruitcake? Granted, it's loaded with the mandatory celebratory calories, but avoid it at all cost. I mean, have some standards.

10. One final tip: If you don't feel terrible when you leave the party or get up from the table, you haven't been paying attention. Re-read tips; start over, but hurry, January is just around the corner. Remember this motto to live by:"Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate and wine in one hand, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO what a ride!"

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Have a great holiday season!!

Happy New Year Too!!
