Very good Mike!

Not sure what these are called but to me they're clever.

They told me I had type A blood, but it was a Type-O.
A dyslexic man walks into a bra.
PMS jokes aren't funny, period.
Why were the Indians here first? They had reservations.
Class trip to the Coca-Cola factory. I hope there's no pop quiz.
Energizer bunny arrested. Charged with battery.
I didn't like my beard at first. Then it grew on me.
How do you make holy water? Boil the hell out of it!
Did you hear about the cross-eyed teacher who lost her job because she couldn't control her pupils?
When you get a bladder infection, urine trouble.
What does a clock do when it's hungry? It goes back four seconds.
I wondered why the baseball was getting bigger. Then it hit me!

With the holidays upon us, I would like to share a personal experience with you about drinking and driving, as I know some of you have been known to have brushes with the authorities from time to time on the way home after a "social session" with friends.
Two days ago, I was out for an evening with friends and had several cocktails followed by some rather nice red wine. Feeling jolly, I still had the sense to know that I may be slightly over the limit, so I took a cab home. Sure enough, on the way home, there was a police road block. But since I was in a cab, they waved me through.
I arrived home safely without incident. This was a real surprise as I had never driven a cab before, I don't know where I got it, and now that it's in my garage I don't know what to do with it.
So don't drink and drive!

These words are over 300 years old and, for years,  I've quietly said them to myself on January 1, every year, for at least 30 years.  They have been my "every year" resolution.  No matter what your political/religioius convictions might be, maybe we could all get behind these words.

“Do all the good you can. By all the means you can. In all the ways you can. In all the places you can. At all the times you can. To all the people you can. As long as ever you can.” ―

Happy New Year Day 2.  Watching the Rose Bowl game, USC versus Penn State.  51 years ago (yesterday) Mike Sheldrake and I worked as ushers at the 1966 game between UCLA and Michigan State, which turned out to be one of the all time great Rose Bowl contests.  I was privileged to work the game because Mike's dad, Eddie, was a UCLA grad and booster who had arranged for us to make a little extra scratch ushering and watching football that afternoon.  He was an All-America guard on the UCLA basketball team in 1950.  Eddie was all Bruins all the time. Still is. Thanks to Eddie and Mike for allowing me to participate and have this wonderful memory today.

Wow, Mike. How inspiring! This made me walk a mile and a half with my dog this morning instead of my usual half mile. I am determined to overcome these bad knees yet! Thank you for this, and Greg thanks to you for your homorous posts and to all of you for the wonderful contributions to our message forum. I won't turn 70 until May but my 94 year old Dad is still walking a mile several days a week.

Great post. I love the attitude it shows and I try in my own way to imitate it. I took up burning wood for winter heat last year so now I go out and wield a splitting maul and a chain saw. I still ride my bike when weather permits, like any day it gets over about 30º and I don't hesitate to take long rides, like to SoCal.

Maybe I will live to be as old as some of those folks. I have a genetic head start because I can still go to see my dad in Florida, on my bike. He is living with his second wife in Orlando.
