Hang in there Mike. If you keep working with the physical therapy you will get there.

It took me months of rehab to get past my triple bypass surgery but these days I feel better than I did right before the surgery. In my case one of the heart arteries was about 90% blocked so I was running on borrowed time. Once I had a good blood supply it just took some work to get back to feeling spry. Here I am 11 years later and seldom even think about it.

Mike, I am most sympathetic about the sciatic nerve pain.  I had sciatica for a while and when the pain would hit, it was just completely disabling.  The pain would often wake me up at night and could hit anytime during day.  I often thought that if someone saw my grimacing in pain, they might think I was having a heart attack.  I was fortunate that a program of hamstring and other stretches basically cured me of the sciatica.  It does seem possible that your sciatic pain might diminish as the inflammation from the surgery goes away and physical therapy could also make a big difference.

Sounds like a difficult road right now, Micah.  But hang in there.  Your classmates are behind you with thoughts and prayers.

Hang inthere with thr PT.  I too had some back issues several years ago,  The PT really worked out.  It is not a quick recovery at our age.  Remember the paper cut as a kid, alost cured the next mirning,  We just need longer to heal at our age.  Best wishes

I am a Seenager. (Senior teenager)
I have everything that I wanted as a teenager, only 60 years later.
I don't have to go to school or work.
I get an allowance every month.
I have my own pad.
I don't have a curfew.
I have a driver's license and my own car.
I have ID that gets me into bars and the whisky store.
The people I hang around with are not scared of getting pregnant.
I don't have acne.
AND I can get a home loan and not have to make monthly payments!
Life is great.
I have more friends I should send this to, but right now I can't remember their names.

Tired of being referred to as a "baby boomer", I'd like to think "we are the people our parents warned us about"Spent most of my life trying to live up to that standard.

Greg, I don't expect to live to 135 so it is not mid-life for me but I do ride. I don't ride in groups much though.

Love the "We are the people our parents warned us about" video. So many things in that remind me of former and even current activities.

Hi Greg,

I, too, love your "Seenager" sayings!  And as I just had another birthday, I have been reciting them all week.  I also added another line,  "I don't have to ask for permission to go where I want to go"!

Thanks for the laughs.

I just saw on one of the Savanna pages on FB that Tom Peacock (class of 66) passed away.

My high school English teacher was well known for being a fair, but hard, grader. One day I received a B minus on a theme paper. In hopes of bettering my grade and in the spirit of the valentine season, I sent her an extravagant heart shaped box of chocolates with the pre-printed inscription, "BE MINE."
The following day, I received a return valentine from the teacher. It read, "Thank you, but it's still a BE MINE-US."

GREAT TRUTHS ABOUT GROWING OLD:

1) Growing old is mandatory; growing up is optional.

2) Forget the health food. I need all the preservatives I can get.

3) When you fall down, you wonder what else you can do while you're down there.

4) You're getting old when you get the same sensation from a rocking chair that you once got from a roller coaster.

5) It's frustrating when you know all the answers but nobody bothers to ask you the questions.

6) Time may be a great healer, but it's a lousy beautician.

7) Wisdom comes with age, but sometimes age comes alone.

Any other GREAT TRUTHS out there?

8) You know the answer to Final Jeopardy but can't remember it within the 30 seconds
