The older Baby Boomers were all home schooled! Who knew? See below, in parents’ own words!

1. My mother taught me TO APPRECIATE A JOB WELL DONE.

"If you're going to kill each other, do it outside. I just finished cleaning."

2. My mother taught me RELIGION.

"You better pray that will come out of the carpet."

3. My father taught me about TIME TRAVEL.

"If you don't straighten up, I'm going to knock you into the middle of next week!"

4. My mother taught me ESP.

"Put your sweater on; don't you think I know when you are cold?"

THE IMMIGRATION PROBLEM SOLVED!

The Secretary of Homeland Security will announce next month that Immigration and Customs Enforcement will start deporting seniors (instead of illegals) to lower Social Security and Medicare costs. A major study concluded that older people are easier to catch, offer less resistance, and, more importantly, will not remember how to get back home.

Gordon Reed

Even more important is seniors not able to collect SS and Medicare will help with the budget. No need to change the debt limit for a while.

Charlie Groh

Haha, I'm definitely easier to catch, although they may find it difficult 'cuz I'm PACKIN'!

When you’re young, speed and adrenaline seem to be great. But as you get older and wiser, you learn that comfort and peace are more important.

This is called S.O.S.: Slower, Older and Smarter.

02/06/23 03:53 PM #1586

Richard Maurer

Well small doses of speed and adrenaline may still be OK.  I think that I am developing two thirds of the S.O.S., aka Slower, Older, Smarter.  I am definitely slower and older.  But I think I am headed in the wrong direction on the smarter.

Greg Cook

Richard, I think most of us would agree. Prevagen anyone?

02/07/23 12:32 PM #1588

Joan Elliott (Euans)

Don't admit to anything like not getting smarter with age! If they want to think we are getting smarter or gaining wisdom with our years of experience, let's let them think that. Who knows, it may just be true!

02/09/23 08:24 AM #1589

Richard Maurer

Joan, good advice.  Attitude is worth a lot.  Keep your chin up and march on. I certainly think that our experiences lead to an accumulation of knowledge and "wisdom" that can help avoid lots of issues.

Who's to say 2023 won't be everyone's best year? Lots more living to do.

Best to everyone!

Rich, I knew you would see the tongue in cheekiness of my last comment! But I have no doubt that you could still wow a group of students with a lecture on gene expression in the endocrine system...Nothing wrong with your brain! I find, even if I can't recall a certain word, or name, or place, it usually comes to me later!

On the unlikely chance that some of you might be interested in another dose of amateur fingerstyle guitar, here is a video of our version of Paul McCartney's "Let it Be".

If if that isn't enough here is a video of "The Parting Glass"

Joan, I am definitely not eager to return to lecturing students.  Back in the day when I did teach, I got OK student feedback.  Of course you get some interesting comments.  One student noted that I needed to "drink more coffee".  Apparently my voice was too calm for that student.

Rich, I guess I'm one of the unlikely ones, give us more! Your mini concert was wonderful, both you and Bobbi... as they say, in perfect harmony! It was a gift and I thank you!

Richard Maurer

Joan, thanks for the nice comments.  I am glad you enjoyed the music.  Bobbi and I will try to keep on occasionally recording and posting something.

I really enjoyed your mini concert also, Rich and Bobbi!!

Does anyone have other sayings to add?

“Things you say after 60.”

1 – Where the h*** is my phone?

2 – How did I get this bruise?

3 – That isn’t my password either? WTH!?

4 – How do they expect me to read this small print?

5 – Where did I leave my glasses?

6 – I don’t care if it doesn’t look fashionable, it’s comfortable!

7 – Who the heck is calling after 9:30?

8 – Does anyone say please and thank you anymore?

9 – Geez, how do you throw your body out of whack just sleeping wrong?? WTH!

10 – This scale can’t be right!!

11 – WTH is wrong with people nowadays??

12 – Why did I come into this room?

02/15/23 12:53 PM #1600

12. It sounds like you are in the here-after. What am I here after?
