Dr. Zhivago - very long film, but beautiful, if often sad

Hard Days Night - a date film doesn't have to be romantic, this goofy classic is simply a lot of fun and during the height of Beatlemania in the 1960s was probably a pretty good choice for a date film

Richard, great call on A Hard Days Night. It brought back a memory. I took a friend's (another Rebel by the way) girlfriend and her friend to the Highway 39 drive-in to see the movie. I don't think I need to mention what was going through my teenage mind when I agreed to do it.

Do you know all those screaming girls in the movie? Well, I had two of them in my car. How bad was it? One of the girls even admitted she wore rubber underwear in case she had an accident.

I'm pretty sure that was the cause of my current hearing loss.

In case you're looking for a way to get your kids to visit for Christmas, give this strategy a shot:

An old man calls his son and says, "Listen, your mother and I are getting divorced. Forty-five years of misery is enough."

"Dad, what are you talking about?" the son screams.

Just wanted to wish everyone a Bonne Annee ( Happy New Year) but more importantly pass along a bit of advice to my male collegues.

I have shared with a few of your privately about my medical condition. But in reveiwing my thoughts on this, I feel I should share with all the men from our class and the ladies to take care of your male partners.

Late this fall my PSA test jumped substantually. My GP referred me to an specialist. MRI, followed by a scan, followed by a Biopsy has determined I do have a small prostrate cancer. The Really great news, France has a wonderful health care system. Both my Docs tell me we caught this so early that I will be cured 100% my mid spring. My treatment has been some medications to lower my testosterone while we wait to start radiation treatment. That begins in January. Should last about 4-6 weeks with several PSA tests taken as we progress. So my message is to ask all of you to have a PSA test taken each year and monitor the results. Any level above a 4.0 for our age should be looked at by a specialist. Stopping it soon prevents any surgery, thus no where near the after effects caused by surgery. I truely feel blessed to have been able to catch this so early. Hope if this message helps just one of you, it was worth the time to write.

PS. The meds cause hot flashes and I have become a bit bitchy. Ha ha/

Thanks Greg, I feel very confident all will come out well. Spring travel will kind of be limiited, but we are going to South Africa in the Fall and going on a photo safari with the Londolozi company. Should be a great time. Hope you have a fantastic 2020 and beyond. Best Wishes, Mitch

I am just hoping my experience reaches someone who has NOT done this previously. One never knows. Glad you take care of yourself, but kind of felt you would be aware of the issue. I begin the raditation in two weeks, but feeling really good about the end results. Looking forward to traveling again once this 5 x's a week treatment is finished. Best wishes for a great 2020 and further on.

I loved Michael Elliot's list of movies. I remember seeing "A Summer Place" when it first came out even though my parents forbid me to see it. Maybe that's why I loved it. A couple of years ago I watched it again. My favorite line from it was when Johnny (Troy Donahue) returned from his first year of college and Molly (Sandra Dee) said to him "Johnny, oh Johnny have you ever been bad with a girl before:" The movies have certainly changed!

Mitch we can't say thank you enough for bringing what can be a sensitive subject to the Forum.

Prostate and breast cancer are the most talked-about cancers. But more than 15,000 people die each year from the various types of skin cancer.

I have had five skin cancers surgically removed. All were basal cell (about 2,000 deaths a year). Three were on my face and two on my back. I was never much of a sun worshiper when I was young but according to my doctor, no one is immune.

Now I'm on a six-month schedule of check-ups. Like most other cancers early detection is crucial.

What do the following celebs have in common?

Bob Marley

Stephen J. Cannell (creator A Team)

Jim Johnson ( Philadelphia Eagles DC)

Burgess Meredith ( Rocky)

Randy Castillo (Black Sabbath)

Maureen Reagan (President's daughter)

They all died due to complications from skin cancer.
