Children: Austin, born March 29,1984
Grandchildren:

Grand dog named Zola (Pit mix with Plott Hound)
Now 4 1/2

Birthplace:

Limon, Colorado

Life Journey:

I worked a blue-collar job and played music for about two years after high school. Then I got back into college. I worked as a tour guide during my college years. I graduated from CSUF with a BA in English and minor in Art History. I taught HS in Anaheim while I did graduate work.
In 1978 I moved to Rancho Bernardo, Ca. I continued teaching/counseling.
I moved to Manhattan, NY in 2012 and began teaching at Lehman College in West Bronx, NY. Now also work at Hunter College.
I married in 1980, had a son in 1984. Circumstances were such that I raised him myself and so we are close. He and his wife are CUNY grads and are college instructors in the CUNY system as well. Austin is due to finish his PHD summer 2019

Favorite Teacher:

Ladislaus Szarek (English) He made teaching English seem sexy and cool.
It is mainly due to him that I decided to become
a teacher.

Martin Brandt: (Drama) He was the one I learned sarcastic humor from.

Coach Noel Sweeney (PE): I kept thinking: I hope when I am his age, I can be as together as he seemed to be. Look as healthy and fit as he did.

Most Memorable Moment at School:

Senior year my counselor Mrs.Wilson, called me in (to her office) to ask me about my after school plans. I told her I'd eventually want to go to college. She told I didn't have what it took to do college, and to consider the military. Saying that to me (you can't do it, you don't have what it takes) made me think "Well, now I have to graduate from College".
Thank you Mrs. Wilson
Also, one day I asked Mr. Szarek what he did when he wasn't teaching and he said he liked to drink a glass of wine and read Shakespeare. I thought how cool is a job where you can tell teenagers you drink wine and read Shakespeare?

Favorite 60's Entertainment:

I especially liked: Actors: Rod Steiger, Sidney Poitier, Jack Lemmon, and Dustin Hoffman in The Graduate. My God, Olympia Beer!!

Big fan of Stevie Ray Vaughn, Roy Orbison, Beatles and of course the legendary Del Paxton.

Summer of 1965:

I worked the first half of summer (65) at a greasy spoon restaurant called Oscar's Drive In on Beach Blvd. The second half of summer I moved to Las Vegas with my family. I got the first job I could get that had indoor air conditioning. After six months I moved back to Orange County, roomed with fellow alum Dennis Balsiger, worked at Knotts and started college.

I did not know Steve well. A loss of any of us is a loss for all of us.

Best to family and friends going forward.

I knew Don Bellinger a bit. red hair, smart as a whip, athlete. He seemed older to me (then) more mature than I or other high school(ers). One of the good guys.

Had a great time with Michael Elliott when he was in NYC last week. We had lunch at Becco's
Restaurant on Lower West Side.

I do wish I lived closer to everyone out West. Be fun to attend the get together s.
High school years are when most go from kids to young adults, a rugged at times journey
and connections with each other help make it possible. We share a common path and
as such we form bonds, friendships and as we get older we still hold hands facing life together not alone.

I was in the Cadets with Jim. I knew then he would make a really

good military officer and of course he did. He was mature and very

smart. I am glad he had a good and happy life.
