I remember "My Fair Lady" done at Savanna.  The big posters said "Don't Miss Missy!".  I was involved in drama at the time so I got to see all the behind the scences fun, too.  It really was a great play.  I still enjoy live theatre. "Hamilton" is coming to The Segerstrom soon.  I saw a raffle for tickets last week for $2000.00!  Maybe I can get a Rush ticket?  Linda Carpenter, I'm thinking you have tickets?  Lucky!!!

I also remember our school production of Shaw's Pygmalion, which was the play My Fair Lady was based on.  I still marvel at how good the actors were.  Not just the leads but John Ivey's outstanding portrayal of Colonel Pickering.  I'm thinking it was in our junior year.  Or were there two major productions per school year?

Yes I do have tickets.:) smiley Row D in the orchestra. I could have bought two more  in September for $190 each but no one in my family wanted them and I was on my way to Texas when they went on sale so I passed. They are now selling for about $1800 each.crying Wish I would have known you wanted them,  Kathleen. Just saw Something Rotten at the Segerstrom  last night from third row dead center and it was so hilarious. And what a cast? Lovers of musical theatre and Shakespeare will truly enjoy this funfest!

I also had a small part in My Fair Lady  as Freddy's Mom. And we usually did two major shows a year. One big musical and a play and then of course we did one acts and festical productions. I think Karen starred in Babes in Arms   and we had co-starring roles in The Mouse that Roared.   A toast to Mr. Reil and Mr. Brandt who so patiently directed those productions and Mr. Peterkin who was so instrumental in our musicals.  They all nurtured our talents and built our self confidence.  We were so blessed to be part of the wonderful Savanna drama program. Those were the days!

BTW Anyone who lives locally and  wants SCR tickets to the main stage let me know before next August.  I get 15 for each show and they always sell out well before the first play opens. The seats are great and this is a fundraiser for the Edison High School Academic Competition team.

As soon as We get our new puppy trained where we can leave him alone for a few hours, (Norm golfs every Tuesday), I will be joining you. Thanks for arranging this! Finally we have some lovely Fall weather in Southern California. The 84 degree Thanksgiving was a bit warm.  For those of you in colder, wetter climates, may we trade a bit of weather?

A Christmas movie from the dark side: The Nightmare before Christmas

And this just in:

According to the Alaska Department of Fish and Game, while both male and female reindeer grow antlers in the summer each year, male reindeer drop their antlers at the beginning of winter, usually late November to mid-December.
Female reindeer, however, retain their antlers until after they give birth in the spring.
Therefore, according to every historical rendition depicting Santa's reindeer, every single one of them, from Rudolph to Blitzen...had to be female.
We should have known this...
Only women would be able to drag a fat man in a red velvet suit all around the world in one night, and not get lost.

Great choices all. It's a Wonderful Life would top my list, followed by The Christmas Story and A Christmas Carol.    Trading Places is also somewhat of a Christmas film. And yes, Kathleen we adopted the puppy from DogzHaus Rescue. One thing about puppies. They keep you active. You should come and meet him.

Watching the news on the fires in S. Cal.  Really heartbreaking.  The Rye fire was very close to our son's place, luckily burned the other direction, the Lilac Fire Displaced Jan's sister for three days in Fallbrook.  They are back in the house, no damage, it got within about a half mile.  We have had so much rain here was wishing we could have sent it to help out.  God Bless all the fire fighters, etc.

First our music took over advertising and now Christmas carols? Regardless of your religious preferences, the creativity in this classic "nativity" story will bring a smile to your face.
