Well put, Doug.

Thank you

Well said, Doug.  I totally agree with you.

Doug:

Well stated.  I agree and I never identified our culture or friends and classmates as Rebels.  It never made sense to me so I would agree that they should change it if they choose.  It will not change our history.

This forum is so wonderful! I rarely take time to post responses, so this is a "catching up" from an expert procrastinator. Love the movie thread - so many great movies...if we get another rainy winter, I will really get my money's worth from Netflix!

And the humor makes my day! You are amazing. Please keep it coming. I do believe that laughter is great medicine

Also, the thoughtful input on current issues is interesting and refreshing. I agree with Mike that none of us ever intended our mascot to be disrespectful regarding the immense pain caused by the dark chapter in our history that included both slavery and the civil war. Back then it truthfully never even crossed my innocent (and actually, rather shallow) mind. However, as Doug so eloquently stated, times have changed, and the current students should choose a mascot that better reflects a more enlightened viewpoint, insight and empathy. Changing the mascot won't erase any fond memories of our school days or diminish the enjoyment brought as we reconnect in the here and now. ✌️

Here you go, Jonel (and Greg Cook, of course):

In Conclusion -- My Travel Plans for 2018:

I have been in many places, but I've never been in Cahoots. Apparently, you can't go alone. You have to be in Cahoots with someone.

I've also never been in Cognito. I hear no one recognizes you there.

I have, however, been in Sane. They don't have an airport; you have to be driven there. I have made several trips there, thanks to my friends,       family and work.

I would like to go to Conclusions, but you have to jump, and I'm not too much on physical activity anymore.

I have also been in Doubt. That is a sad place to go, and I try not to visit there too often.

I've been in Flexible, but only when it was very important to stand firm.

Sometimes I'm in Capable, and I go there more often as I'm getting older.

One of my favorite places to be is in Suspense! It really gets the adrenalin flowing and pumps up the old heart! At my age I need all the stimuli I can get!

And, sometimes I think I am in Vincible but life shows me I am not.

People keep telling me I'm in Denial but I'm positive I've never been there before!

I may have been in Continent, but I don't remember what country I was in. It's an age thing. They tell me it is very wet and damp there.

I have been in Deepshit many times; the older I get, the easier it is to get there.

Very good Mike! Was planning a similar trip to in Solent until I found out how rude they were there. Tried to visit in Terrogation but couldn't get past all the questions in customs.

How about "Hell's a Poppin" with Martha Raye and Groucho Marx?  We probably watched that on our black and white t.v. hundreds of times.  We laughed every time.  My sister and I can still sing the title song. Happy Thanksgiving everyone.  I am thankful for all of you and for those of us who made it to 70.  (still a few hold outs I know.  I like you anyway).

Great catch Kathleen!  I, too, would watch this classic every time it came on.  Insanely funny!

Kathleen, I had totally forgotten about "Hell's a Poppin". Only saw it once as a kid but it was very funny. How can you go wrong with the Marx Brothers?

First of all, Thank You Mike for creating all these "best of" lists. It has kept us all communicating on the site.  I may have missed this, but did anyone include My Fair Lady.  Still remember Mellisa Clark and Paul Wilson in our presentation of the play.

By the way, the Photo of me in Bellagio, Italy is due to the car's owner.  We were walking along the lake and this guy pulled in with a completely restored 65 Mustang.  We got to talking and he insisted I get in so he could take my photo.  How does one refuse that offer?  Been a great year of travel for us.  A month in CA with the grandsons, Biarritz, Paris ( 4 times) Milan, Lake Como,  Dublin, Madrid.  Several visits from friends which inspired these trips.  Need to post a few more photos.  Living here sure makes these much more affordable and no Jet Lag.

I remember "My Fair Lady" done at Savanna.  The big posters said "Don't Miss Missy!".  I was involved in drama at the time so I got to see all the behind the scences fun, too.  It really was a great play.  I still enjoy live theatre. "Hamilton" is coming to The Segerstrom soon.  I saw a raffle for tickets last week for $2000.00!  Maybe I can get a Rush ticket?  Linda Carpenter, I'm thinking you have tickets?  Lucky!!!
