Doug and Charlie, those are great spring pictures.  Nice to see the vivid colors of the spring flowers in the sun and the rolling green hills.  I think the entire west coast has received a lot of rain this winter.  Of course Oregon is well known for getting buckets of rain and we have been soaked with more than usual.  The abundant rain has probably contributed to the abundant blooms on this camellia in our yard.

Hey John Work, I got a message from Ed (Fuzzy) McDermott, a fellow classmate.  He asked the question, how many mystery writers does it take to screw in a light bulb.  He says the answer is 2.  One to screw it in almost to the end & the second to give it a surprising twist at the end.

Just a reminder that some of us are meeting for breakfast at 9:30 AM on Tuesday April 25th at Keno's at 2661 LaPalma near Magnolia Ave. We have a great time talking about old and new times. Hope to see you there.

Have you ever had a day like this?

An elderly couple had dinner at another couple's house, and after eating, the wives left the table and went into the kitchen.
The two gentlemen were talking, and one said, 'Last night we went out to a new restaurant and it was really great. I would recommend it very highly.'
The other man said, 'What is the name of the restaurant?'
The first man thought and thought and finally said, 'What’s the name of that flower you give to someone you love? You know, the one that's red and has thorns.'
'Do you mean a rose?'
'Yes, that's the one,' replied the man. He then turned towards the kitchen and yelled, 'Rose, what's the name of that restaurant we went to last night?'

Here is the latest from our very own class novelist, John L. Work. As he is reluctant to promote his books on our class website, I've decided to do just that. In my opinion, this is his best novel yet and deserves to be shared. Here is the Amazon link to order a copy or to download a Kindle version:

https://www.amazon.com/Fadoesque-Thriller-John-L-Work/dp/1543142087/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1493140937&sr=8-1&keywords=john+l+work+Fadoesque

You can also read the rave reviews posted on Amazon. I can guarantee you will not be disappointed in this story. From one reader:

I've read all of Work’s novels and without exception thought them classy thrillers, but this one is on a totally different level. The story grips, the writing is masterful, and the main character, Mike Donnelly, is oh-so-real. In fact, everything about the book is so spot on I can’t fault it.

Work’s descriptions in places make you pause, go back, and re-read them, the second time to savour the wording and muse on how perfectly the phrases are constructed.

And I dare you not to smile at the reasoning of why a man, any man, is incapable of resisting a beautiful woman; it’s priceless.

I wondered at the title before beginning to read but it was quickly explained and I have to say how absolutely perfect and poetic it is for the story.

A final comment is about Work’s usual habit of anchoring his stories with facts; it’s one of the reasons why his stories are so good.

I’m not going to give anything away about the storyline except to say that FADOESQUE doesn’t disappoint.

Have to agree with Bobbie 100%.  John Work's books are really good stories, easy to read.  We have read several on Kindle and hope he continues to write.  This last one has a really good surprise ending.

Senior Spring Break 2017 - Anyone still remember their wildest spring break?

05/10/17 12:29 PM #700

Michael Elliott

Don't remember my spring break as being particularly wild.  In those days they called it Easter break.  The fact that I spent mine working and studying tells you a lot about how exciting I was back then. Boring!

From what I'm seeing in your pictures, your NOW spring break looks pretty darned good!
